On Saturday 24 oktober 2026, one week before Halloween, WesterHarmonie, conducted by Arthur Demonceau, presents ‘Haunted Harmonies’ at De Bron in Amsterdam-Oost. It is a musical journey through the mysterious, dark and imaginative sides of music. The concert draws on the origins of Halloween, when, according to tradition, the boundary between our world and the ‘beyond’ temporarily fades.
Eerie, spooky and enchanting
Let yourself be swept away by an evening full of mystery, suspense and enchanting sounds!
The wind orchestra, joined by the majestic church organ, will send shivers down your spine on this musical journey through the darkest and most atmospheric corners of classical and modern music.
Not horror, but the age-old fascination with the unknown forms the common thread: legends, witches, ghosts, masks, creepy creatures and nocturnal atmospheres. Music and stories reinforce each other, taking the audience into a world full of suspense and imagination. To heighten the anticipation, the programme remains a secret—but expect dramatic sounds, dark elegance and the eerie atmosphere of a haunted carousel.
Baroque, Romanticism, symphonic wind music, musical theatre, jazz and pop come together in a programme that places familiar works in a new context. WesterHarmonie challenges itself and showcases the versatility of the symphonic wind orchestra. The result is an accessible yet stimulating experience for seasoned concertgoers and new audiences alike.

WesterHarmonie consists of approximately 40 woodwind, brass, and percussion players with diverse musical backgrounds. Many members also play in other ensembles, such as chamber orchestras, wind quintets, street orchestras, or big bands. The musicians range in age from around 25 to 60+, but they all share one trait: a love for playing music with a serious touch. As a symphonic wind orchestra, this amateur ensemble delivers surprising performances at various locations, including outdoor venues.
